Easy Monster Cake

Easy Monster Cake

Happy Halloween!

I know it's a little late for new ideas, but this cake is so easy that it will take you maybe an hour to complete. It's not hard... just repetitive. And it only takes two icing tips and three colors... if you count white as a color.

What You Need:
Cake - any shape or size would do
Purple, or green, or blue, or pink icing (about 3-4 cups depending on the size of your cake)
1/4 cup (or less) white icing
1/4 cup (or less) black icing
Icing Tips #233 & #10 (or #12)

*Note: This would be even easier to do if you use canned icing for the "hair" and tubes of icing for the white and black!

I started by icing the cake smooth with purple icing.
Then, I added the whites of the eyes.

Using Tip #233, add hair/fur all over. Remember to start with the tip touching the icing of the cake, squeeze while pulling straight away from the surface of the cake. The further you pull away from the cake, the longer and scragglier the hair will be.

Add the pupils and a line or circle or whatever for a mouth, and voila! SUPER Easy Monster Cake.

Wild About You - Easy Monster Cake

Wild About You - Easy Monster Cake

How about a hairy, purple Monster to say I'm Wild About You, Valentine!?!
This cake is super easy! It took me less than an hour to decorate. It's perfect for Valentine's Day, Birthdays, whatever!

What You Need:
6-9" Round Cake (This was 6"x3")
2-4 cups of Buttercream Icing (depending on the size of your cake)
Colors: Purple, Pink, Black (and white)
Decorating Bags & Tips #5, 12, 233

Ice the cake smooth, and start by adding white dots with Tip #12 for the eyes. (However many eyes you want.) Add the black mouth and eye spots with Tip #5. The tongue is made with another Tip #12 dot- in pink.

Then, it's a lot of repeating... Tip #233 "hair" all over. Always start with the tip touching the cake, and squeeze while you pull straight away from the cake.

I couldn't pass on taking this picture! I thought it was so adorable, the balding monster with mutton chops.

Once he is covered, finish it off with a message on the cake plate.

Easy Monster Cupcakes - 5 Ways

I found some Candy Eyeball Sprinkles at the store this week... so, I had no choice, I had to make some quick Monster Cupcakes for Halloween.

I thought I'd show what you could do with a few different, easy-to-find decorating tips. The tips are labeled in the picture above. I think my favorite is the easiest... Wilton Tip #233 in a messy pile. The center cupcake.
(Click on the picture to see the cupcakes larger and in more detail.)
My kids' teachers and our neighbors will hopefully enjoy their simple little monsters.
