Leftover Halloween Candy Treats {Recipe}
Sometimes just sending the leftover Halloween candy into the office to get rid of it doesn't work. People see right through that attempt at getting rid of it. So, I try to repackage it... into Cupcakes, Brownies and this year, Rice Krispies Treats.
What You Need:
6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
1/4 cup (half of a stick) butter
10-oz. bag marshmallows
Various chocolate candy (We used about 25-30 pieces.)
Use your trick-or-treaters to unwrap and break or chop the candy.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then add all of the marshmallows, and stir until they're melted and smooth.
Measure the cereal into a large mixing bowl. Pour the melted marshmallows over.
(I've found that mixing them in a large bowl, rather than just pouring the cereal into the saucepan helps get them more evenly mixed.)
Mix the cereal and marshmallows, then add the candy, and mix it in as well.
Press the mixture into a 9x13 pan lined with parchment paper. (I like to use a butter wrapper to keep my hands cleaner.)
We kept the M&Ms out separate so that the boys to "decorate" their squares. They made aliens-- you know, so that they could have many, many "eyes."
Now, when you send these treats in to the office... you actually get rid of the candy!!
